Obama wanting to enter war with Syria...can the US even handle that? (PB)

So all the talk in the news and media stirs up to the conclusion that Obama is seeking congressional approval for Syria strike. I’m sorry, but I don’t approve of this. Sure its sad to see how many innocent lives are being killed due to whats going on, but from the point of view as a citizen in this country where the government undergoes a series of infractions and not one but MANY economic downfalls...I don’t think we’re financially stable as a country to be placing ourselves in debt over a war that has nothing to do with us. R.I.P. to those lives lost in Syria and as much as we feel for them, the U.S. is still in recovery from all we went through with our own Wars and Recessions from the past. So Obama before we go and try fixing someone else’s problems, the country needs to stick together to continue fixing our own before we enter another. If we are so called trying to help families who have the inability to provide their children with a future in education, where will the money for that come from if it’s being drained into War? I’m 17 years old in my last year of high school, I’m praying we don’t enter a WWIII because of this decision, so I hope Obama really knows what he is getting himself into. As for the citizens of the US, even if we haven’t been asked our opinion, it’s called freedom of speech right? Let that be known what I just did.

  1. I definitely agree! Once again the U.S. is sticking its nose where it doesn't belong. But one question that comes to mind is, 'why is it that the U.S. is playing such an active role in this Syria issue?' What about the other global Superpowers? I think it's more than what's being presented. We want something.

  2. I think a lot of Americans agree with you. All of the newspapers are covering this news extensively. What do you think about using chemical bombs against civilians? Are you very interested in topics like this? If so, you should consider studying political science.

In thinking about these issues, it is good to consider historical context. What happened in Germany when the world turned its back on how that country treated its citizens in the 1930s?

As a grammar note, when you are discussing countries, you have to make that country's name into an adjective. Syria becomes Syrian when describing something like the 'Syrian War.'

  3. Well now we have to hope that Assad agrees to the deal that Russia and the United States have negotiated. Which is having Syria give up their chemical weapons. As Americans we still have the fear about if we are go and strike Syria it will end up like Iraq, which was a long and costly war. In this case that wouldn't based up the fact that it was only going to be a limited strike that was going to degrade Assad force's. The United Nations investigated Damascus and found evidence and proof that the Assad regime used chemical weapons on its people. Chemical weapons are a violation to the United Nation policy. That's why President Obama made the it clear that we cant stand by and allow chemical weapons to be used and something must be done.I understand that a lot of Americans to want to interfere but, we cannot stand by and do nothing as Secretary of State John Kerry said to Congress. If America stands by and do nothing then all the rest of the countries such as Jordan, Iran, and North Korea will think its OK to act in such behavior and cause havoc on their own. We will just have to hope that that Syria follow through on giving up their chemical weapons.
